MPS Receives Forest Stewardship Council Certification

New York, NY – Multi Packaging Solutions, a leader in print and packaging for the healthcare, horticulture, media, and value added consumer markets, announced today that it has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody Certification for its two facilities in Holland, MI.  Certification for the remaining Multi Packaging Solutions facilities is scheduled for later this year.

Chain-of-Custody Certification is a promise to customers that FSC-labeled products produced by Multi Packaging Solutions come from sustainably managed forests.  It provides a guarantee that the manufacturing process has the necessary controls to maintain the integrity of the FSC label from purchasing raw materials through manufacturing and delivery to its customers.  Chain-of-Custody Certification verifies that products from certified forests are not mixed with products from uncertified forests at any point in the supply chain and that certified products are identified, segregated and accompanied by appropriate documentation throughout all stages of the manufacturing process.

The Forest Stewardship Council is the global and national leader in the independent certification of forests managed to exemplary standards covering environmental, social and economic issues.  The Council sets forth principles, criteria, and standards that span economic, social, and environmental concerns.  FSC standards represent the most rigorous system for guiding forest management toward sustainable outcomes and have been applied in over 57 countries.  Forest certification enables consumers to make informed choices when selecting wood and other forest products. 

The two facilities in Holland, MI were inspected and certified by SGS under their QUALIFOR Programme.  SGS is an independent certification body that is accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council.  To maintain independence between its standards and requirements and the operations seeking certification, the FSC itself does not certify forest operations or manufacturers.
